Hey everyone. So this is the part of the season where I have to try and set realistic expectations for everyone. The truth of the matter is that this is the HFHL. It’s a whiffle ball league that has floor hockey in its title.
It has been around for a long time and God willing it will be around for a long time to come.
Last night we had some extracurricular activity take place in one of our games. Things got out of hand and people did not react well.
I need everyone to remember…this is a fun competitive league. It’s not life and death. It’s not Austin Matthew’s gets drilled by Gudas and has to fight Domi.
It’s over weight guys trying to run fast. It’s skinny guys trying to get fat. It’s suppose to be a night when you can show up and let off some steam by running as hard as you are capable of, and be respectful and in control.
Last night there was lots of disrespect and too much lack of control.
Depending on what side of the fence you are, you will cast blame on someone else. But bottom line…you are responsible for how you react to situations that take place during the game. This is not tit for tat hockey where if you check my guy I’m checking your guy. It’s not win at any cost with so much aggression that you can’t keep your cool and you do something stupid. There is a place for that on the other side of the water…but not here at the fish bowl.
We have volunteer refs and without them there is no league. We don’t always get it right, but we try. Can we be better? Yes we can. But regardless we are all grown men and we need to be responsible for how we react to things.
That’s all I got to say about dat!
Now, the playoff picture…
Slayers and Sabres are on top tied for first.
The Chill could get a look at first if they win and the top two lose.
The Lynx and the Fire are both tied for last
The Hackers are in fourth place.
Next Monday will be our “moving day” and will finalize who plays who, but for now it’s pretty wide open.
Have a great week everyone
