This is Billy Concarney here with a quick update on the state on things after last nights games at the fishbowl.
Hackers 7 vs Sabres 10
The Hacks kept things close most of the way in this one. But the Sabres kept it coming and were rewarded with a 10-7 win. Sabres backstop Dylan Warren turned aside 43 of 50 shots while Ryan Dunford grabbed a Hattie including the eventual game winner.
Chill 8 vs Lynx 5
The Lynx had a very promising game here tonight. Although the scoreboard may tell a different story, they kept pace with the Chill who have been freezing out the competition for the last few weeks. The Chill jumped out to a 6 goal lead part way through the second until the Lynx started clicking a bit more an actually out scored the Chill 5-2 on the second half of the game. This is chemistry time for the Lynx and we think it could be the start of something… what ever that “thing” looks like is yet to be determined. Chill keeper Brendan Hanrahan had a great game which has earned him this week’s HFHL Player of the Week nod. Looks good on you mate!
Slayers 8 vs Fire 4
“If I could turn back time…if I could find a way” that’s the song that might have been going through Fire captain Anil Snook’s head after this one. Snook made some hefty moves last week that on paper looked like a big deal…this had the league buzzing and had some asking why the Commish didn’t veto what looked like a season altering trade. But last night saw the Fire looking a little discombobulated and the Slaters capitalized on that. Led by team goalie Craig “The Gargoyle” Burgoyne and Mark Butyn, the Slayers notched another victory and might be looking at that often sought after and not found undefeated season…but a few games left and we will see where it lands.
So that’s how it looked from here.
Only 6 days left until the trade cutoff and we will be keeping and eye out for any rumours or rumblings in the days ahead.
A big shout out to our in house IT guru Matt Monk who has been diligently working to upgrade the league’s website and score keeping process. Thanks a bunch for all you are doing behind the scenes. We all appreciate you very much.
Well, I’m outta here. This is Billy Concarney saying so long and hope you all have a blessed week!
