Week 6 Recap - Mar 15, 2024

Hey folks.
Billy has been tardy these last couple of weeks just trying to stay on top of some things before he goes under the knife. So forgive the delays.

Hackers vs Sabres

Hackers drew first blood but the Sabres poured it on and scored 4 in a row. Things sort of traded out after that with the each team scoring in clumps. Goalies played well, Hackers were missing Stu and Eddie Briggs…oh yea…sorry…
Sabres win this one 9-7. Good game

Chill vs Fire

Jordan Castilloux was on fire in this one, well not on the Fire, but well he was hot I mean. Fired up maybe. Anyway, he had 1 goal and 5 helpers in the first two periods but that was it. Looked like the Chill were going to be too strong but the Fire kept pace and when it was all said and done, we had a 8-8 draw. This was as even as it could be. 43 shots a piece. Was a bit chippy…well…but we will get to that.

Slayers vs Lynx

Well…this was a treat! The Lynx were undermanned and had their hands full. This game was aggressive and well…we will get to that too.
Dylan Warren, new guy goalie for the Lynx, played a strong game. Faced 59 shots in a losing effort. Rylan Smith had 4 goals and 4 assists and as a result gets this weeks nod for HFHL player Of The a week.
Slayers win this one 15-7.

So…last week was a crap show. Too much hack whack hockey going on. Too much over the top body and stick work in front of the nets. And not enough letting up when trying to get to a ball.
So, as a result, our refs will be told to call tighter. Three penalties you go home for the night.
Also, the running of the mouth needs to stop too. If you are getting called for a penalty, you are allowed to be unhappy, but keep the comments to a minimum. No one is showing up to pick on you or try and ruin your game. None of us are that important. It’s a whiffle ball league.
Have a great weekend, bring some speed and skill on Monday, but leave the chippy stuff at home or work please.
Thanks

Billy Concarney
