Sabres Snag Chaisson With Number One Pick - 10/5/1999 5:40:54 PM

The Lite-Sabres, last season's runners-up, bolstered their team significantly today by selecting top prospect Steve Chaisson number one overall in the 1999B entry draft.

Also of note, team GM Richard MacMillan managed to hang on to all four returning Lite-Sabres -- Rob McNeil, Chris McMaster, Peter Rinco and Kenzie Royal. The remainder of the team has been filled by league rookies Darren Derocher, John Gaudet and Ryan MacDonald.

Familiar faces that will be absent from the Lite-Sabres' line-up this year will be Alex Angelopolous, Bill Hanley (in New Brunswick), Peter Anderson (retired) and Colin MacLaren (package with Hanley).

The Lite-Sabres' season opener is at 9pm on Thursday night at the Needham Center against the Keane Fire. Lite-Sabres' season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the Needham Center box office.
